Input Sources

Vision requires some Source switching Logics to work as expected.
Therefore the fixture must use different input sources if it has different signal inputs. These input defines which signal is active at a time.

Vison supports:

0: Vision
1: DMX
2: CRMX / WDMX
3: Artnet
4: SACN
5: GLP DOP
6: IR Remote (Fixture)
7: Manual Mode
8: Auto Mode (Automatic Source Selection with Priority)
9 - 252: Reserved
253: Wireless (2.4 GHz)
254: Wireless (Other)
255: Ethernet

Mapping fixture-specific modes

Some fixtures have internal modes that do not map directly to one Vision input source. Typical examples are CCT, Color, Static, or fixture-specific Auto modes. In this case, do not expose every internal mode as a supported input source unless Vision can select that mode reliably and the mapping is clear for the user.

Recommended rule: Report Supported Input Sources only for the sources that the Vision app should be able to select directly. Use Selected Input Source to report the current active mode with the closest standardized value.

For a fixture that can be controlled by DMX and Vision App Control, but also has internal CCT, Color, Static, and Auto modes, the recommended mapping is:

Fixture modeReport as Selected Input SourceReason
DMXDMX (1)Direct protocol match.
App ControlVision (0)Controlled by the Vision Control app.
CCTManual Mode (7)Local or fixture-specific standalone mode.
ColorManual Mode (7)Local or fixture-specific standalone mode.
StaticManual Mode (7)Local or fixture-specific standalone mode.
AutoManual Mode (7)Use Manual Mode when the fixture's Auto mode is a local standalone effect and cannot be mapped to Vision Auto Mode behavior.

In this example, report Supported Input Sources as Bit 0: Vision and Bit 1: DMX only. The Vision app can then select only the two modes that can be mapped properly. Internal fixture modes can still be reported as Manual Mode (7) when they are active, but they are not offered as selectable Vision input sources.

Only use Auto Mode (8) when the fixture implements automatic source selection with the Vision priority behavior described below. If Auto is only a local standalone program, report it as Manual Mode (7).

Auto Mode (Automatic Source Selection)

This mode is used to automatically switch between protocols without changing the input source. This mode should behave as follow:

Priority: 1. DMX, 2.WDMX, 2: Vision App Control

Whenever a source gets active with a higher priority DMX should be used from that source and wireless radio protocols may turned off as long as this source stays active.

Idle: WDMX and Vision App Control should be active

DMX Active: WDMX and Vision sould be off. Turn off WDMX chip, Vision will automatically handle this usecase, you just have to answer with correct response in RDM CPID Vision (50:Selected Input Source, 51:Selected Input State). CPID Vision

WDMX Active: Vision sould be off. Vision will automatically handle this usecase, you just have to answer with correct response in RDM CPID Vision (50:Selected Input Source, 51:Selected Input State). CPID Vision

Vision Active: WDMX must turned off.

Reminder: Always Power Vision IC and always communicate via RDM
